Asymmetry in Three-Dimensional Sprinting with and without Running-Specific Prostheses

چکیده
As a whole, human sprinting seems to be completely periodic and symmetrical motion. This view is changed when person runs with running-specific prosthesis after unilateral amputation. The aim of our study investigate differences similarities between below-knee amputee non-amputee sprinters—especially regard whether asymmetry distracting factor for sprint performance. We established three-dimensional rigid multibody models one transtibial athlete reference purposes three athletes. They consist 16 bodies (head, ipper, middle lower trunk, upper arms, hands, thighs, shanks feet/running specific prosthesis) 30 or 31 degrees freedom (DOFs) the athletes, respectively. Six DOFs are associated floating base, remaining ones rotational DOFs. internal joints equipped torque actuators except prosthetic ankle joint. To model spring-like properties prosthesis, actuator replaced by linear spring-damper system. consider pair steps which modeled as multiphase problem each step consisting flight, touchdown single-leg contact phase. Each phase described its own set differential equations. By combining motion capture recordings least squares optimal control formulation including constraints, we reconstructed dynamics trial athlete. results show that even athletes showed less than expected examined on an individual level. Nevertheless, much more pronounced in applies larger torques arm trunk compensate experiences destabilizing influence movement. Hence, inter-limb has significant effect movement maintenance upright body position.

متن کاملThree-dimensional human running
This paper describes the control of a simulated three dimensional model of a human runner The rigid body model has seventeen segments and thirty con trolled degrees of freedom The dynamic parameters of the simulation were computed using data measured from humans to produce a model that is biomechan ically realistic within the constraints of a rigid body approximation We developed locomotion con...
متن کاملThree-dimensional electrode arrays for retinal prostheses
Three-dimensional electrode geometries were proposed to increase the spatial resolution in retinal prostheses aiming at restoring vision in blind patients. We report here the results from a study in which finite-element modeling was used to design and optimize three-dimensional electrode geometries. Proposed implants exhibit an array of well-like shapes containing stimulating electrodes at thei...
متن کاملScapula behavior associates with fast sprinting in first accelerated running
The arm-swing motion is important for coordinated lower limb movement during a fast sprint and is composed of three-dimensional scapulothoracic and glenohumeral joint motion. Here, we aimed to clarify the role of the scapula during the initiation of a sprint running when sprinter run with high horizontal acceleration. Ten sports-active students participated in four 5-m dashes, with scapular con...
متن کاملCharacterizing the Mechanical Properties of Running-Specific Prostheses
The mechanical stiffness of running-specific prostheses likely affects the functional abilities of athletes with leg amputations. However, each prosthetic manufacturer recommends prostheses based on subjective stiffness categories rather than performance based metrics. The actual mechanical stiffness values of running-specific prostheses (i.e. kN/m) are unknown. Consequently, we sought to chara...
